It is evident in history that human pride and stubborness has governed how society perceives things and ideas. Events in history justifies this and it has always been on going. Have we ever wondered sat and thought how society over the yrs resisted change? And i will say dat it was pride and stubborness of humans that resulted to this. well thnx to GP on thurs, my class watched a video on the top 10 ppl who made an impact in the world today and we discussed certain issues that clink and clank in my mind and i fall in to a state of awe and amazement at the very thought that how society was and is till today. Because no matter how society advanced in technology, knowledge bla bla bla...all glory to the power and might of the appaling nature of the human race. Let's take for instance galileo galilei, he made the wildest idea and claim that the earth revolves ard the sun in contrast to prior beliefs of his time that the universe revolved ard the earth. The reason? Well in genesis(1st bk of the bible depicting the creation) its said that man was made in God's image so dat equates uniqueness that humans are indeed a "special race" and frm there human pride began. Arrogance i shall say coz they thought everythin revolved abt the earth, centered upon it how man pleasing. Then came copernicus(the father of modern astrology) who b4 galileo came up with the idea that the earth revolves ard the sun and dat it is part of a planetary system(without telescopes or such instruments durin his time). THough it was said he never shared his work till galileo galilei came to it and formed his own theory and ideas based on copernicus. And when he told the world of this findin, he was labelled a heretic and was put under hse arrest by the church because of the common belief that the everythin revolves ard the earth. Despite his sightings with his telescope, charts etc. He couldnt prove to them until he died. And guess wat, it was till 1992 tat the vatican admitted that they were wrong to not acknowledge his claims were true. Actually if u sat and thought, why were there other planets ard? why our earth is the one with life? well it occured to me that there was a purpose. I may not be right, but here is wat i think. The reason why the earth revolves ard the sun is like how we r suppose to live our lives. Our source of light if we are christians is God and we revolve ard him everyday and night which explains the 2 sides of the earth that face the sun at any one time. Why the other planets? well most prob they are there to remind us that it is God's will that we are here and that he chose to make the earth rather than the other planets to hv life just as he chose His ppl. And its interesting how the earth revolves ard the sun in unison which could in fact mean how we are to relate to ppl. Now back to the pride topic. there is always a resistance to change among humans today and its because of their pride that caused them this and the thought that they are always supreme. And its stands till today. We are all drubbed with ideals since the day we were conceived. We are put into a society that ignores a diff pt of view. In the course of history it took one voice. ONe mind to change how the world would think. And those one's never dreamed of greatness. All they wanted was to prove something was true. And the sad thing is dat after their effort and after they pass on, that this ppl get acredited. That's the human race. Despite breaking into the new century we say we are open but we resent traditions. We say we r not racists but squirm at the sight of a beggar of the same colour. We say we are fair where in fact we patronize big corporations which exploit those in countries who cant even afford a piece of bread. We do many things without knowing it and we are selective in wat we want to hear, see, say and do. And when someone says you're a fool pride takes over. Humans despite the advance in knowledge bla bla bla...still are the same after all. And i suppose me writting this would make me the biggest fool to go against convention and thats how change comes. THats how martin luther the great reformist did it. HE was persistent and i suppose we shd look back in history and ask. Has humans really learnt? with the current situation in the world. hv we really changed? take this time and think. Despite society dictatin our lives and our ideals, breakaway frm this mass following and dictate your own life accordin to ur sun if u get wat i mean.
